CASE STUDY: ICT Infrastructure to support Perth’s largest pub

hybrid cloud computing services at the campfield in perth - mss it

PROJECT DETAILS

MSS IT Client: The Camfield at Optus Stadium, Perth

The Camfield is a licensed venue at the new Optus Stadium in Perth. This mega-pub has 175 beer taps, 5 bars, 20 screens, room for up to 2500 patrons and covers 9000sqm. The Camfield is the evolution of the large suburban pub of yesteryear. A family-friendly venue with modern finishes and a contemporary causal design.

Product and Services:

Why MSS IT? A trusted company that provides IT support and managed services to the hospitality industry.

What They Love. A project team that can design, facilitate and execute a complete ICT solution that is cost-effective and meets the business needs.

SITUATION

The Camfield is Perth’s largest pub, located directly outside the new Optus Stadium in Perth, and the third venue for local hospitality experts at Three Pound Group. The construction of the new venue presented the opportunity to create a physical centralised solution that could support all three venues. The network is needed to handle the requirements of the business operations such as live streaming, point of sale and security as well as deliver additional capacity for data storage and greater connectivity.

However, given the scale of the venue and the tight construction timeframe, the Group opted for a streamlined approach and engaged MSS IT as the project manager to design, facilitate and execute the brand-new ICT infrastructure.

CRITICAL NEEDS

  • A centralised infrastructure solution with remote access for two additional sites
  • A system that could support activities such as live streaming
  • Additional data storage and connectivity
  • Project design, construction, implementation and live deployment

PROCESS

During the project scoping process, MSS IT solutions architects identified that the requested infrastructure would either not support the required services or was creating a double-up effect based on multiple suppliers requiring their own set-up.

To address this, MSS IT designed a consolidated solution for all suppliers to utilise, that could be centrally managed, offered better connectivity and was more robust and cost effective.

Three existing hybrid systems were centralised into one physical centralised solution and the result was client-owned infrastructure for four buildings on site with remote access for a further two sites, which also delivered the additional data storage and connectivity requirements.

Additionally, MSS managed logistics onsite and offsite with stakeholders across multiple organisations during the construction process to ensure the infrastructure was installed and deployed on time and on budget.

MSS was also able to facilitate an OPEX solution with HP Financial Services allowing the Group to apportion payments over time as the brand-new venue realises its potential. The solution will generate a saving of 50% per year after three years.

“The MSS robust solution enabled us to utilise their infrastructure to deliver a consolidated management service, an increase SLA and centralised ongoing support for our mutual customer” Daniel Ecseri, Director 21St Century Business Equipment
